Jennifer Phuong
Jennifer Phuong, Ph.D., is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Educational Studies at Swarthmore College.
Using theoretical frameworks and methods grounded in applied linguistics and disability studies in education, her research focuses on the intersection of race, language, and disability in U.S. K-12 contexts, especially how in- and pre-service teachers construct and navigate learner categories. As a teacher educator, Jennifer works to prepare pre-service teachers to understand intersectionality and how racism and ableism are intertwined in/through/with language to strive towards equity in (special) education. She is also the daughter of Southeast Asian-Chinese refugees.
