Natasha Strassfeld
Dr. Natasha Strassfeld is an Assistant Professor of Special Education in the Department of Special Education at the University of Texas at Austin.
She serves as Area Co-Coordinator for the Equity and Diversity Program in the Department of Special Education. Her research examines racial/ethnic disparities in how students are (mis)identified for education placements and the services they receive, with a particular emphasis on how law and policy shape the types of services and pathways for students with disabilities. Dr. Strassfeld’s work contributes to the ongoing discussion regarding the nature of disproportionate representation, situates that discussion within a broader framework of judicial and administrative trends regarding education law and policy, and sheds new insight on disparate service inequities.
